NHL playoffs 2019 Bruins Brad Marchand plays better hero than heel against Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio Bruins left winger Brad Marchand led a power-play chance after taking a pa s off the boards fromTorey Krug, and then found Patrice Bergeron for the shot and score from the right slot. Marchand raced from the other side of the ice to greet Bergeron. It was Marchand's first point of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Blue Jackets, and it helped stake the Bruins to an early two-goal lead in Game 4 at Nationwide Arena on Thursday. That moment won't get half as much attention as the rest of Marchand Mike Conley Jersey 's night. He had three penalties the first of which led to a penalty shot in his first action since late in Game 3 when he punched Blue Jackets defenseman Scott Harrington in the back of the head. Those mistakes did not cost Boston this time. The Bruins heading into Saturday's Game 5. NHL PLAYOFFS: Marchand has been the heel of the series. That a sist, however, helped set up the Grayson Allen Jersey heroes. Bergeron had two goals. DavidPastrnakadded a goal and an a sist. That oft-criticized line showed up on the road at the right time. Marchand wasn't surprised by that. "We've been right there,"Marchand said before chuckling to himself."We've got a lot of heat, but if you break down thechanceswe've had game to game, we're getting five, six really good opportunities every game. It's a matter of time before those guys score goals. That's just the way it is. They're too good." So is Marchand. He scored 100 points in the regular season and had four goals and five a sists in the first round. Yet the headlines have centered around his penalties in the series. Marchand's high-sticking penalty in Game 3 led to the game-winning goal by Matt Duchene. Marchand was called for tripping at 6:52 in the first period, which led to a penalty shot by Boone Jenner. Boston goaltenderTuukkaRask made the save. Marchand also picked up a delay of game at 16:00 of the first and another tripping penalty on Cam Atkinson at 18:01 in the second period. Boston killed both penalties, and Rask finished with 39 saves. Marchand, wearing a Bruins cap and with blood trickling off the top of his nose, answered three minutesof questions in matter-of-fact-fashion afterward. "There is no panic regardle s of the outside attention from the media," he said."Whatever you guys want to say, we Ja Morant Jersey 're not concerned about that. We know what's in this group, and we believe in this group. We don't expect to score every goal. That's why we're a good team." That's why Marchand is a great player, too. He wore the heel label for two games in Columbus. Blue Jackets fans booed every time he touchedthe puck, and he will be their primary target for the remainderof this series. Marchand has taken the headlines about his behavior in stride. This is the same player who insistedhe was done with all of that at the end of last year's series against the Justise Winslow Jersey Lightning where he was . The penalties suggest there is still room to improve. Marchand, however, was not the only one who had trouble with penalties in Game 4. Columbus had sixto Boston's four, and the Bruins converted two of those into goals. "The most frustrating part for me is the penalties,"Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said."I just felt once we got going, we'd take another penalty." SPIEGEL: Marchand did not face punishment for punching Harrington, and hedid not bite when asked . The puck hit the protective netting above the end boards seconds earlier but the referee did not stop play. "With the things that are reviewable now, that should be an automatic call now,"Marchand said."Regardle s, we played through it. That's hockey. That De'Anthony Melton Jersey stuff happens. There are a lot of calls that are mi sed that are part of the game." Marchand still has not scored a goal in the series, but he set up one of his teammates who did. Now, Boston has a chance to take control of the series. If Marchand starts scoring along with Bergeron andPastrnak, then he will cro s that line from heel to hero. His teammates won't be surprised by that, either. "They've carried us this whole year, and obviously tonight was a big game,"left winger JakeDeBrusksaid."Those guys have won a Stanley Cup (in 2011) for a reason."
